課程概述 |
Course Aims:
This course is to provide an introduction to anyone interested in the characterization of materials, with emphasis on analysis of chemicals, polymers, ceramics and metals. Its goal is to provide the students with the noticeable features of modern materials characterization and analysis techniques. The use, sample requirements, principles, applications and limitations of each technique will be explained in this course. When a specific diagnostic problem related to engineering materials is presented, a vast variety of materials characterization techniques can be employed to solve the problem. It is expected that upon completion of this course, the student will possess the basic ability to carry out judicious selections of methodologies to solve engineering diagnostic problems. |

參考書目 |
The primary source of material will come from the lecture notes. No one textbook covers all of the material covered in the course. The course material draws from several textbooks (the full list will be given in the class). We will use partially-completed lecture notes as a tool for covering the topics in lectures – there are numerous blank spaces for you to fill in as we go over the material, and to take your own additional notes. The lecture notes and any other supplementary reading documents will be available on the departmental website. |
